The 1976 World Champion
Winning the 1976 manufacture championship was the excellent Porsche 935 "Martini" turbo. Based on the road legal 930 turbo, it was named in relation to Group-5 racing. In meeting the regulations, the 935 was powered by a 2857cc inline 6 cylinder turbo engine which thumped out approximately 590hp. On the lightweight body was a large rear wing and a flat nose which produced superior aero dynamics allowing the Porsche to win 4 of the 7 season races.

The Revival Began Here
After a long break, the Mercedes team made their comeback to motorsports with the Sauber-Mercedes C9 in 1988. With main sponsors, German electronics company AEG on board, the C9 took on an impressive electronic circuitry livery on the beautiful dark blue paint job. This prototype car featured a 5 liter V8 twin turbo engine and went on to record a truly remarkable 5 wins and came 2nd for the season rankings.

About the BMW320i Gr.5 Jagermeister
In 1977 BMW took on Porsche in the Group 5 "Silhouette Formula" class of the world championships with their BMW320i. With a distinctive oversized spoiler and front fender, the BMW320i was able to snare 4 victories out of 9 races to take out the Group 5 championship. Also competing in the German Racing Championship, the BMW 320i displayed the characteristic orange of their main sponsor, German distillery Jagermeister.
